Muharram moon Sighted, Ashura on Saturday 24 October, 2015

KARACHI(Thursday, October 15, 2015): Moon for the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram has been sighted, consequently, the (youme ashura 2015) day of Ashura (10th Muharram) will fall on October, 24 (Saturday).

The Central Ruet-e-Hilala team meets here on Wednesday for sighting the moon for the holy month of Moharram-ul-Haram. The moon of Muharram also marks the beginning of Islamic year.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KPK government has annunced a public holiday on Thursday, the 1st Muharram. Thursday will be the first day of Muharram while youme ashura 2015 will be marked on October 24th. Mufti Abdul Qavi, a member of the committee, told SAMAA that Muharram’s moon was sighted.

Chairman of the main moon-sighting body, Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman sahib, preside over the meeting at Meteorological Complex. Government of Sindh announced public holiday in Karachi on the first of Muharram to memorialize the martyrdom of Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A.). According to a Sindh government announcement, all educational institutions in Karachi will remain closed tomorrow.
